The Wilson Rose Garden (WRG) integrates lanscape, design, sculpture, color and fragence to sitmulate the visitor's imagination and interest. The garden features an All America Rose Selection with over 1200 rose bushes and 180 varieties ranging from historic old garden roses to modern hybrids, to David Austin's modern English roses. There are 63 varieties of All American Rose Selections award winners in the garden. The garden has been accredited by “All American Rose Selections, Inc”, as a public garden.

    Wilson Rose Garden Deadhead Society.

    The WRG is maintained by the Rose Garden Deadhead Society and the City of Wilson Recreation Department. Volunteers deadhead the roses, weed beds and report garden conditions to the city. The Recreation Department maintains garden buildings, grounds, irrigation system and facilities. The Recreation Department supervises removal and replacement of diseased or damaged bushes. Recreation Department staff are available to answer questions, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 pm - 4:00 pm by phone at (252) 399-6621. The garden works closely with the Botanical Garden. Please refer all technical questions related to rose bush disease, insect control, planting, irrigation and feeding to the Wilson County Extension Master Gardeners (WCEMG). The WCEMG are available to answer gardening questions, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm by phone at (252) 237-0113 or by email.

    Restrooms are available Monday-Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM.

    The garden layout includes structures, benches, climbing rose arbors, sculptures, pool and specialty gardens, ideal for a wedding and outdoor parties.

    Includes historic old garden roses, hybried teas, English Roses, Hedge Roses, Climbers, Flourabunda, Minitures, Grandiflora, an All-America Selection Garden and the fragrence garden. The WRG invites you to visit and see the growing collection of roses that thrive in this area. Most importantly, enjoy yourself!
